CONTINUING EDUCATION AUDIT
In our commitment to provide "Theological Education for Every Generation," Lancaster Seminary offers the opportunity for persons in the community to participate in seminary classes at a nominal cost. The LTS Continuing Education Audit program is non-credit and designed for personal enrichment. Certain courses offered during the seminary's regular semesters may be available for Continuing Education Audit (CE Audit) with the permission of the professor. Clergy, lay leaders and others who are interested in exploring how theology impacts their every-day lives, are welcome and encouraged to register as Continuing Education Auditors. Auditors may request to receive Continuing Education Units (CEU) upon successful completion of the course.
The Auditor's Responsibility Auditors should complete the readings in order to be informed and prepared to participate in discussions. Auditors are not expected to complete written assignments. Auditors are permitted to use the Philip Schaff Library on the seminary campus. Because parking is at a premium, on-campus parking is reserved for faculty, staff and credit students.
The Seminary's Responsibility Once accepted, the auditor may attend all sessions of the requested course and receive a copy of the syllabus and any other instructional handouts distributed to the class. Instructors are not expected to provide feedback or evaluate any work that the continuing education auditor chooses to undertake. Should such feedback or evaluation be desired or necessary for any type of certification or denominational standing, one must apply for admission to take the course for academic credit by contacting the Admissions Office.
Cancellation or Withdrawal Should Lancaster Seminary cancel the course, or if written notification of withdrawal by the auditor is received by Registrar prior to the second class meeting, the fee will be refunded in full. The fee is forfeited if the auditor withdraws after the second class meeting or if written notification is not received as outlined above.
CEU
Calculations: One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours:
- 12-week course = 3.6 CEU
- 6-week (one day per week) course = 1.8 CEU
- 6-week intensive course = 7.2 CEU
- 3-week intensive course = 3.6 CEU
- 2-week intensive course = 2.4 CEU
- 1-week intensive course = 1.2 CEU
- 1-day workshop is typically .5 CEU
